A bold vision for the future of health took shape in Indianapolis when Purdue University and Elanco Animal Health announced plans to create the One Health Innovation District.
Located adjacent to Elanco’s new global headquarters along the White River, the district was conceived as a purpose-built environment where researchers, entrepreneurs, clinicians, investors, and industry leaders can work side-by-side to accelerate discovery and commercialization.
The initiative reflects a shared belief that the world’s most pressing health challenges are increasingly interconnected and require collaboration across animal, human, plant, and environmental health.
The announcement marked more than the launch of a development project. It established a long-term commitment to creating a globally recognized destination where innovation can move faster, from research and diagnostics to care delivery and company creation.

By bringing together Purdue’s strengths in research and talent development with Elanco’s leadership in animal health, the district aims to create a new model for translating ideas into impact.
The vision includes research facilities, startup and scale-up infrastructure, clinical innovation, venture creation, and vibrant mixed-use development designed to attract world-class talent.
The announcement also signaled Indianapolis’ emergence as a leading center for One Health innovation, building on the region’s strengths in life sciences, agriculture, advanced manufacturing, and higher education.
Today, that vision continues to guide the district’s development as partners work together to create a place where health moves as one.
